When I was a kid, I had two favorite books, and this was one of those two. The other one is Sans Famille by Hector Malot.

I remember reading it and wishing I'd have the heart of a child.. Even though I had it because I was a child. I thought the book was so exciting that I actually read it again! And when I was 8, that was a big deal. Believe me. I was restless.

And I remember the cover of the book! It was this little boy with a hat that had a thing .. that was flopping in the wind and he had such a big smile on his face that I was grinning every time I picked the book up!
