I personally am a very big fan of books that speak of war, and this one was just perfect! It captures the essence of the human mind in contact with things like cruelty, death, pain, being constantly bossed around and having to do things you do not want.. Though it has a lot of characters, the author managed to somehow make every and each one be the center of the book, by telling stories of their past, their hopes, their feelings and their thoughts. I would've liked a bit more action, but as the book is mostly centered on people's minds in corelation with their doings, there's nothing left to ask for! Really good book, loved it.
